Product Description

Chinese companies in Europe and Chinese M&A of European companies are often confronted with particular problems related to difference in business context and corporate culture. Chinese companies tend to heavily rely on other Chinese only. Their business approach follows the Chinese logic rather than a European. Misunderstandings arise both on the European and on the Chinese side.

At the corporate level a clash of corporate cultures may arise after M&A. Chinese CEOs in Europe often depend on higher-level decision-makers in China who do not understand the European context. Chinese managers sent to Europe are selected based on their merits within a Chinese context in combination with language skills; but often rather low awareness of difference in business context. European expertise may be overruled by Chinese power positions resulting in conflicts and loss of resources and people.

Based on the business model canvas, this workshop discusses different cases of Chinese companies active in Europe. It provides tools to anticipate and solve problems and reduce risk in EU-China business and beyond.

The workshop targets both Chinese and European participants.
